Due to the war, several million refugees in Ukraine are fleeing as internally displaced persons. They have lost everything and depend on the hospitals and refugee centres to provide them with the most basic necessities. Especially the children, mostly alone with their mothers on the run, are exposed to particular stresses.
Since the beginning of the war in mid-February this year, the staff in the hospitals and the volunteers in the refugee centres have been tirelessly providing help with medical care, food, hygiene articles and shelter. They are dependent on our support, as food has become very scarce and the supply of hospitals and ambulances with medicines and medical supplies has largely collapsed. In particular, the care of seriously injured refugees with bullet wounds or mine victims is causing great problems due to the lack of anaesthetics and bandages.
