Visit to the Lower Saxony Parliament in Hanover

The Board of the “Lüneburger Hilfsprojekt Ukraine e.V.” represented by Dr Ralf-Peter Oelsner and Dennis Schütze, accepted the invitation of the President of the State Parliament, Ms Hanna Naber, to visit the State Parliament in Hanover today. The occasion was the anniversary of the beginning of the war in Ukraine last year. Invited were 4 voluntary aid organisations from Lower Saxony that are currently providing humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

After a guided tour of the Landtag, Ms Naber welcomed the invited guests. After an address on the occasion of the meeting, an intensive discussion developed in which the organisations reported on their work and experiences. The President followed the reports with interest and asked many interested questions. There was also room for an exchange among the organisations represented and addresses and contact details were exchanged. With the expression of thanks and appreciation as well as best wishes for our further work in helping Ukraine, we were dismissed after 2 hours of intensive discussion. The positive impression that remains is that many people take an interest in the fate of the people in Ukraine and are active in helping.

All agreed that our freedom is currently being defended in Ukraine and that supporting Ukraine is also in our own best interest. With the best wishes for further work, the society disbanded around noon.
